A definite buy November 23, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am interested in bonsai arrangements for very large trees, such as the redwoods. This was provided in the book. I would have liked to see more details in this book on the sequoia sempervirens but I have not been able to find this tree in other books on bonsai.
This is the best Bonsai Book i have ever read!!! August 22, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
THis has to be the best bonsai book their is, it is a great book because it tells you step by step how to do everything. It isthe best beginers book their is, because it startes from scratch. Harry Tomlinson knows that the person who wets this book knows nothing about Bonsai, and he helpes you all the way. the only thing i did not like in this book is that the pictures they show are of Bonsai trees that are 5-10 years of age, but they help...
The species guides are great! May 8, 1998 This book nearly has it all. Short of a much larger book that covers more tree species, you're not going to get better information. The "Bonsai A-Z" section includes a page (or two) on many standard bonsai subjects, with a picture. For each species (or in some cases, an entire genus is covered, with one species illustrated) info on care is presented in a sidebar. The same care info is repeated in an appendix that includes even more species, in addition to those covered in the "Bonsai A-Z" section. A very worthy addition to your bonsai library
Great for beginners and masters alike November 11, 1997 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book has details in laymans terms to start a beginner on his/her way to creating beautiful little trees. And comprehensive enough for a master to use as a reference. I carry this book wherever I go.
