4 out of 5 stars Works like magic with Prime Time primer....   November 8, 2008

I use BE Light foundation, and it matches my skin almost perfectly. I never look like I have a different color neck or anything, and I had a BE consultation at a local salon and spa to match my color to make sure it was the right shade for me. I use the Prime Time primer before putting on my BE....it makes a world of difference in coverage. I used just BE foundation for a year with a regular moisturizer, and it didn't look nearly as good as it does now using less powder with the Prime Time. It makes my skin feel creamy and not heavy at all. I still feel like I am hardly wearing any make-up.

Oh, and I have a tendency to get oily in the T-zone during the day from my make-up being on all day (if I wear liquid foundations)...no problem with BE make-up. Less grease on my face, less breakouts and better skin. It's so good.

Four stars because it's a tad expensive.

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing   November 7, 2008

I received a free 10 day sample of bare minerals and was really excited to try it out, because I was afraid to pay full price to see if I liked it. I put some on just one side of my face, and put on several layers in an attempt to get some coverage of my acne scars... My mom couldn't tell which side I had applied makeup to, and really, I couldn't either. The powder feels good, but it's nothing more than a powder. It has very little coverage, despite multiple applications.

I would only buy this product if I had no need for foundation. The coverage is hardly noticeable.

5 out of 5 stars never streaks, never looks heavy   October 24, 2008

But it does cover well, and lasts on even in the summer... Purchasing through Amazon is easy and my shipments always arrive early.

1 out of 5 stars ick!   October 18, 2008

I used to really love Bare Minerals..... until I found out about the ingredient Bismuth Oxychloride. At first my face LOVED this stuff. But after a few months of using it I noticed that when I wore it my face would be itchier then usual. I also started breaking out a LOT more then usual. It wasn't until I did some investigative work that I found out about that Bismuth ingredient and how heavy it is on your face. The whole reason you have to BUFF the makeup on is because the Bismuth Oxychloride is so heavy that it needs to be PUSHED into your skin. I noticed that my makeup felt and eventually looked like it slid off my face BECAUSE of how heavy it really is (you wouldn't think it was a heavy makeup being that it's mineral powder!)

I stopped using this stuff and IMMEDIATELY saw a difference in my face. It went from being ruddy looking to clean and clear and glowing. I switched my makeup to Alima Mineral makeup and WHAT a difference! For one thing you don't have to BUFF the stuff onto your face, and I feel you get SO much more powder for the price (Which is about the same as Bare Minerals!) The whole reason it feels like you get so much more is because you use a lot LESS! I LOVE Alima Mineral Makeup!

1 out of 5 stars This isn't for everyone, especially us middle aged women   October 1, 2008

I was about 44 when I purchased the kit. It was such a huge disappointment for me, I put it on eBay after using it a few times. This accentuated all the fine lines that come with age. It's very drying even if you use a good moisturizer. While it may be great for younger women, in my opinion, and those of others my age who I have talked to, it's not a great foundation for the 40 and older crowd in general.

Just this year a local TV talk show had a makeup artist on who discussing foundations. She advised that mineral foundations generally do not look good on older skin and advised against them.

I did try two other brands, and found the same problem with each one. Besides that I find them too messy anyway. I hated dealing with all that loose powder. It always ended up with me having to clean my vanity after use.

Not sure if this is true or not so do not hold me to this. I was told by a BE competitor that their minerals used to be pure but are not anymore. Like I said I have no personal knowlege of this. Just repeating what this person told me. Take it with a grain of salt as this is a competing company after all.
