5 out of 5 stars Easily cooled my computer 10 degrees   October 3, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

After reading skibot's review, I decided to get this fan. I also have my desktop tower located in the cabinet shelf of my desk. Now, this desk I got recently and didn't think how much hotter my computer would get inside this cabinet. I soon found that my computer would overheat and shut off if I had the cabinet door shut. So, I had to keep the cabinet door open to be able to use the computer, but it was still getting relatively hot, usually about 109F. Now with this tiny, quiet, incredibly inexpensive fan, my computer kept steady at about 99F. I tried then closing the cabinet door, and it seemed to be working, but eventually it did overheat. Still, great little fan! Maybe if I buy another, I'll have enough cooling power to leave the computer in the cabinet.

Note: I am not the best judge of the fan's noise level since my desktop's fans, which I normally keep on high, are much louder.

4 out of 5 stars good stuff   September 30, 2008

I use it for my XPS M1530 which gets really hot while playing CS:S This thing brings down around 3 to 4 degrees down. I usually use external display and keyboard mouse so placing it under CPU went does not create any adjustment related problem for me.

4 out of 5 stars Good fan for tight spaces.   September 28, 2008

I ended up moving my Dell XPS tower into the enclosed area of my new desk because that's what the space was designed for. However, with as big as my tower was, I knew air circulation would be an issue. The side slot that the desk has provided was not enough and heat was building up inside the enclosure that I had to keep the door of it open, which defeated the purpose.

I purchased 4 of these fans with the intent of mounting two on the the back panel of the enclosure to draw the hot air out. So far, I've only mounted one to test it out and it works great. I have to keep it on high in order to maintain adequate airflow and while the noise it makes at 75-100% is a mild hum, I'm going to add a second fan to the panel so I can just run both of them at about 50%, which makes no audible noise.

I've also go one that sits on top of my desk to use when I have all of my video editing equipment going to help circulate the air.

These little fans are perfect to get air moving in small places. They're in expensive and have a convenient retractable cord. So far, I love these lil things! :)

4 out of 5 stars Great USB fan   September 23, 2008

I wanted a regular fan of 80mm or more that could be run from a regular USB port. And this product is the only one I've found that does the job. Actually it is the only one full stop! It really blows or sucks (depending on use ;-) ) well and the noise level is very low. An excellent item and well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Fan   September 23, 2008

Not going to go on much detail here, but this fan does exactly what's needed. I use it to help keep my PS3 cool, and it does the job splendidly.

I definitely recommend this fan to anyone who needs a USB External Fan.

The only con is there is no "Off" switch, but you can just pull the plug if you really need to turn it off.
