3 out of 5 stars Helpful, BUT   January 14, 2010

This book helped me understand that bonsai is just the 'art' of caring for miniature trees (miniature because you manicure them) and that there is no such thing as a bonsai 'species' of tree. Which means, the book was basically NOT useful in telling me how to care for my unique type of tree. I happened to get a miniature Juniper tree as a gift, so I now need to find a book on how to care for a Juniper. If you are gifting to someone with a green thumb however, they may appreciate the introduction to the art of bonsai and this book is a fairly easy read with pictures.

There are lots of photos besides information on how to achieve your goal. This is what I liked about the book! I need to see photos to help in doing the job. Good section on tools & repotting. Over all I found this book to be very helpful.
