Product Description Take to the skies with Defending the Reich! Defending the Reich is an operational level simulation of the epic night struggle between RAF Bomber Command and the Luftwaffes Nachtjagdflieger night-fighters during the critical period of 1943-1944. Players can play as the British and attempt to devastate as much of Germany as possible, while keeping bomber and aircrew attrition to safe levels, or can play as the German, and attempt to defend the Reichs cities from aerial destruction.During a typical turn, the British player plans his raids, taking into account flak levels, bombloads, routes, and active nightfighter bases. The Germans can organize their gruppen with different type of aircraft squadrons, and upgrade aircraft types. Once RAF intruders have crossed the radar line, the German player must discern between spoof missions and main force raids, and launch his interceptors to knock as many bombers out of the sky as possible. The game includes rules for technology upgrades, He219 advanced nightfighters, schraege musik weapons, firestorms, ace pilots, and more.

RAF bombers vs. Luftwaffe nightfighters January 18, 2008 A very good simulation of the strategic bombing of Germany (& some occupied countries) in '43-'44. Both sides are playable vs. the computer AI. The RAF has to plan raids and rest/rebuild/upgrade bomber, pathfinder & nightfighter squadrons. A key element is to keep the German defences off-balance by striking different regions, conducting spoof raid and attacking airfields. The Luftwaffe must try to figure out which raids are the main force and try to destroy as many planes as possible. Using the different planes effectively is key to Germany surviving the campaign. The He-219 is particularly useful, but quite difficult to come by.
Defending the Reich January 30, 2007 A nice try in an underserved gaming area. While it does not have the depth of Twelve O'Clock High - Bombing the Reich, it is a much more manageable game, particularly for a new gamer.
