Memorex should be embarrassed August 27, 2008 I cannot burn a good disc at 8x. I get stuttering, artifacts, and freezes -- completely unacceptable. However, if I cut the burn speed down to 4x or under, they work OK: hence the 2 stars. If you burn from an .iso source, I recommend IMGburn (freeware). It has more burn speed choices than any other I've seen.
My system: Striker Extreme motherboard, Q6600, 3GB DDR2 PC2 6400, Samsung & LiteOn 16x burners.
not sure August 27, 2008 archiving photos on them and a couple were bad but still not sure how long they will last
So far, so good. August 25, 2008 I've burned at least two dvd with no problem. I have a Pioneer 112D DVD Burner, burning both dvd at 4X (If you go past this speed, your looking for coasters [ANY BRAND!]). It would be good if future reviews would post the DVD burners that were used, it might indicate which brands would work best for this media.
I would not recommend Memorex dual layers disks to anyone. August 25, 2008 I had no problem with Memorex dual layer disk a year ago, but there quality went under just recently. I have horrible experience with them. I bought the 25 spindle. I tested them on two different drives and couldn't burn anything, data, movies, etc. I paid to mail back the defective item. The exchanged item also failed. So went to get sonys dual layer and it is working perfectly.
Please stay away from Memorex dual layer disks.
No good for me August 24, 2008 I figured it was a gamble buying these with all the poor reviews, but I never had a single problem burning any type CD or DVD ever with my equipment. The first 5 burns had multiple stops during playback. I tried two software packages with the same results. Maybe the quality control at Memorex is poor, maybe its hardware, but like I said I never had any problems with anything else. Buyer beware. I just threw all of these in the trash.
