Customer Reviews:
Faster and more Focused than Dominants August 30, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Visions were just developed a few years ago from Thomastik, the company that brought the Dominant synthetic strings out a few decades ago. They are an improvement over Dominants, but not for every violin.
I like them because they are more focused in sound than the Dominants and last longer. They also settle in easier and respond better to cross-tuning (i.e. changes in tuning that fiddler's use). They will keep their new intonation locked in. They also keep their focus and rich complex sound longer than Dominants, which tend to go dull after 2-3 months. They are also a fast responsive string, and work well on most new violins. There are some that do not take to Visions and sound kind of scratchy or edgy. But most newer violins that need to be broken in will take to Visions for their focus, response and brilliance.
