Our sturdy corer/slicer is a quick and easy way to prepare apples or pears for snacks, pie fillings, salads or jams. Slices fruit into 10 even wedges while the corer removes the center seeds. The high handles leave enough room to keep fingers away from the base.

4 out of 5 stars Apple Cutter   February 8, 2008
Have had several apple corers in the kitchen drawer for years. Finally wore them out. Had to buy a new one. Wow! They are so much better than they used to be. This one is handy, durable, effective and washes clean in the dishwasher. It is hefty and easy to use. Very nice

2 out of 5 stars OK for apple pie slices, not so good for everyday use   September 28, 2007
I own both the OXY good grips version and took a chance on a couple of these at the Friday sale. The slice sizes and core area is much more petite than the oxy cuts out. Unless you cut a flat skinless surface on the top and bottom of the apple, you better plan on bearing down 40-50 pounds of weight onto theis corer to get the blades through an apple. It really is hard! (as others have noted)
Mine hasn't rusted, but I do find myself reaching for the OXY cutter instead. My guess is that when I'm making apple pies and I want the thinner slices, these will come in handy... For general use, take a miss.

1 out of 5 stars isn't sharp enough!   August 7, 2007
I was disappointed in this product. The blades are not sharp enough to push down easily and cut through an apple-the whole purpose of the item. I would NOT buy another.

2 out of 5 stars MIU Apple Cutter and Corer   May 28, 2007

Good construction, but the cutting portion of cutter is blunt instead of sharpe. More like squashing than cutting/slicing cleanly. Definately not worth the money. Would not purchase again.

5 out of 5 stars I expect it to last a lifetime.   April 13, 2007

I bought one of those 3 dollar corer/slicers. It barely lasted 10 days. It was cheaply made with the blades being tack welded to the handle and inner ring. Those tack welds broke loose, and it became hazardous to use. I feel like that one wasn't worth a dollar, not to mention three.

I chose this cutter/corer because it looked like it would last. The blades are plenty sharp, though not knife sharp. That means you don't have to worry about slicing your finger off with it. It cuts and cores apples well.

If you have puny arms and can't bear down on it, then you may want to stick to applesauce instead.
